Guided tours
are a safe way to get started without worrying about navigation. You can just concentrate on paddling and enjoying the surroundings.
A Summer Night’s Paddle
Experience the mystical atmosphere of a night-time canoe trip in the Saimaa archipelago. We use open canoes and paddle at a leisurely pace suitable for the weather and the participants' level of fitness. We also stop for a snack break on the lakeshore. No previous canoeing experience is required. If you have previously kayaked, you can opt for a kayak instead.
Good Morning Paddle Trip – A rejuvenating and calming start for a holiday or a workday
Summer mornings in the Saimaa region are magical. When nature has awakened but most people are still asleep, we meet at Sahanlahti Bay by Lake Kaitajärvi. At 7:00 AM we head out in the quiet of Kaitajärvi in open canoes. The trip, including preparations, is about two hours long. After the trip you can relax in a wood-heated sauna on the lakeshore and take a swim. After canoeing and a sauna, the abundant breakfast at Sahanlahti will taste better than ever and your mind will be sharp and calm.
If you would rather paddle on your own, we rent kayaks, canoes and trekking gear and help you plan your trip.
We have earned Visit Finland's Sustainable Travel Finland certificate. Saimaa Canoeing was also awarded with the Finnish Travel Fair sustainability award 2023.
